Every year I have been blessed to work with these two handsome guys. They are spunky and adorable and ornery, but we wouldn’t want it any other way (I’m sure their mom would agree)! It has been such a blessing to follow them with the camera and to watch them grow. I love looking at my calendar to see I have a session with these two coming up, because I know we’ll giggle throughout the time we’re together! Can’t wait ’til next year…!
One of my new favorite things is to do a lifestyle session – capturing moments and life in their natural environment. Last weekend I had the privilege of working with the newest addition for the veerhusens in a lifestyle mini session. SO precious!! Perfect in every way and absolutely adorable! I am so thankful that I was able to enter their home and capture a few bits of their life with baby number three.

There are many blessings that come from working with great clients. One of these is getting to watch kids grow and change. I have been working with this little man for a few years now and, even though he’s not my own child, I can’t believe he’s about to start kindergarten! Time definitely flies. To his mama, thanks again for allowing me to capture his sweet, sweet smile. I absolutely LOVE working with you guys.

Personality. Spunk. Giggles. Charm. Freckles. Just some of the words I could use to describe the three gorgeous children of Shane+Kelsey! I have been blessed to work with this family a few times and every time it just gets better! I know how parents are – trust me, I have four kids – they want that pinterest-inspired, perfectly-posed shot of their family. A photo that captures every smile and wisp of hair perfectly placed. But let’s be real…those shots are few and far between. And besides, they can be pretty boring! I’d rather see the personality of a family – the way they laugh, and talk, and are naturally around one another. One of my favorite shots (though Kelsey might disagree) is the last one on this blog post. It shows just how hard a family photo session can be. Be sure to check out the facial expression of each child as mom and dad smile and hope for the best. Priceless.

One of the things I find so much joy in is when I get to see the same children and families every year. For the past few summers I have worked with brookyln&kraten (and their parents). It’s amazing to see how fast time passes, even when it’s not your own children! These two cuties are so much fun to work with and this year it was great to see Kraten actually smile on cue! (…at least for awhile). I can’t wait for the new addition to their family who will arrive this fall! Thanks for always allowing me to capture these adorable faces.

From their engagements to their wedding to maternity photos and now their precious first born child – it has been a joy to work with them! Sometimes life changes our plans. Sometimes all we can do is pray and believe. Sometimes a sweet baby faces an uphill climb from his first breath. That was the story of sweet baby Maxon. As his mama and daddy awaited his arrival, little did they know that all of their plans were about to change. Little did they know that their precious baby would need heart surgery and time in the NICU. And little did they know just how strong a newborn could be!
Needless to say, our newborn session came just a little later than planned. But with a perfectly healing scar and gorgeously coiffed hair, Mr. Maxon was finally ready for his session at a month old. He was wide awake and his bright eyes shined. Thanks to Libby+Jake for allowing me to be part of another chapter in your story! I’ve known you for a very long time (forever?) and I know that little Maxon has two wonderful, caring and strong parents!

Sometimes there’s just no way around it…a kid has a bad day. Regardless of any tears or avoidance of my camera, it’s my job to capture every little person’s personality and every family’s love. Yes, children can be a challenge, but they keep my work fresh and fun and in many ways, I enjoy the challenge! I know that kids who don’t always want their photo taken stress parents out FAR more than me. In fact, it’s a bit refreshing from my perspective to know that everyone’s family is normal, and everyone’s kids have rough moments just like mine do! My time with the Roberts family may have been a bit stressful from time to time for mom and dad, but to me it was just another opportunity to capture absolute cuteness!

When working with infants and toddlers I’ve learned to just go with the flow! It has been a rewarding year of watching little miss Charley grow–she’s full of energy, has a mind of her own, and is completely adorable! I recently had the pleasure of working with the whole family again on a beautiful fall morning (thank goodness we got this session in before the snow arrived)!! It was great to celebrate a first birthday and such a gorgeous family!

I’ve had the joy of working with these two adorable boys for the past three years. They are little balls of energy who make me laugh. Their laughter and orneriness make for a session that is never short of exciting (though it may end up giving their momma gray hair)! If it was up to Jake & Collin, all photos would be silly faces, tackling, goofiness and jumping into the air. I always know I can bribe them to sit still for a second if I promise them a crazy moment right after!
