There are many blessings that come from working with great clients. One of these is getting to watch kids grow and change. I have been working with this little man for a few years now and, even though he’s not my own child, I can’t believe he’s about to start kindergarten! Time definitely flies. To his mama, thanks again for allowing me to capture his sweet, sweet smile. I absolutely LOVE working with you guys.

ashley + bryon + 3 fur babies
As we all know, everyone’s family looks different. I’ve worked with an amazing variety of families and I can attest, they all come in different shapes and sizes. Sometimes, like for ashley+bryon, they come with a house of fur babies. It doesn’t matter how we define our families or if they’re human or furry – all kids make for an interesting photo session! This was completely true for ashley+bryon’s session! When two dogs were behaving, the third was not. And then the same was true in a different order. In the end I was able to capture at least some of the beauty that these three majestic creatures possessed. Thank you to ashley+bryon for a great session!

the bristol family
Personality. Spunk. Giggles. Charm. Freckles. Just some of the words I could use to describe the three gorgeous children of Shane+Kelsey! I have been blessed to work with this family a few times and every time it just gets better! I know how parents are – trust me, I have four kids – they want that pinterest-inspired, perfectly-posed shot of their family. A photo that captures every smile and wisp of hair perfectly placed. But let’s be real…those shots are few and far between. And besides, they can be pretty boring! I’d rather see the personality of a family – the way they laugh, and talk, and are naturally around one another. One of my favorite shots (though Kelsey might disagree) is the last one on this blog post. It shows just how hard a family photo session can be. Be sure to check out the facial expression of each child as mom and dad smile and hope for the best. Priceless.

brooklyn & kraten // summer cuties
One of the things I find so much joy in is when I get to see the same children and families every year. For the past few summers I have worked with brookyln&kraten (and their parents). It’s amazing to see how fast time passes, even when it’s not your own children! These two cuties are so much fun to work with and this year it was great to see Kraten actually smile on cue! (…at least for awhile). I can’t wait for the new addition to their family who will arrive this fall! Thanks for always allowing me to capture these adorable faces.
alexa // class of 2016
As a teacher and theatre director I am blessed to work with so many talented kids! Alexa is definitely one of those gems. Talented, artistic, passionate, caring, outspoken, intelligent, and beautiful. I was so excited when she asked me to take her senior photos. As an accomplished artist, I knew she’d have a unique style and vision. We laughed as we trekked through the thick weeds and trees – dodging poison ivy and seeing where the path took us. When May of 2016 arrives, I will be sad to see her leave our hallways, but I know that life holds greatness for her!

melanie + aaron // engaged
When your baby sister (by almost 11 years) gets a shiny ring for Valentine’s Day from the man of her dreams, you know it means two things. One, you get to help plan a wedding. And two, you get to be her photographer for part of the process. As her matron of honor, I’m going to leave my camera at home on the day of her wedding…or at least in the car, so it’s handy if needed. To her actual wedding photographer, I will do my best to behave and let it be your gig (at least I’ll try). For now, it’s about the love story of melanie+aaron and the first of their engagement sessions with me. Since they aren’t getting married until the fall of 2016, we have time to have a little fun in multiple seasons. Woot! To my baby sister and the boy who makes her heart go pitter-patter – I love you both!
staci+dustin // the wedding
I had the privilege of meeting staci+dustin a couple of years ago at another wedding and fate brought us back together when they spotted me at a wedding fair. Ironically, I wasn’t even there as a vendor but rather as a big sister! It turned out that I was available to capture their Easter weekend wedding. It was such an enjoyable day filled with laughter and fun wedding party members. Thanks again to staci+dustin for allowing me to be a part of your amazing day!

•maddox \\ newborn
I love working with clients who allow me to be a part of their big life events. This is definitely true for my work with lucas+samantha! From their engagements to their wedding to maternity photos and now their precious first born child – it has been a joy to work with them! Thank you, again, for allowing me to be a part of your story!

•connie+doug // the wedding
On the last beautiful day of the year before winter’s bitter cold arrived, connie+doug wed at Wessel’s Living History Farm. It was a gorgeous day – a gorgeous couple, a gorgeous family, and a gorgeous service. A small group of family and close friends gathered to witness this couple’s second chance at love. What moved me the most was watching connie+doug’s children during the ceremony. The smiled and wiped tears from their eyes as the couple exchanged vows. All weddings are about love, but this one felt like a true celebration of family, love and everything life has to offer!

•maxon \\ at one month
Sometimes life changes our plans. Sometimes all we can do is pray and believe. Sometimes a sweet baby faces an uphill climb from his first breath. That was the story of sweet baby Maxon. As his mama and daddy awaited his arrival, little did they know that all of their plans were about to change. Little did they know that their precious baby would need heart surgery and time in the NICU. And little did they know just how strong a newborn could be!
Needless to say, our newborn session came just a little later than planned. But with a perfectly healing scar and gorgeously coiffed hair, Mr. Maxon was finally ready for his session at a month old. He was wide awake and his bright eyes shined. Thanks to Libby+Jake for allowing me to be part of another chapter in your story! I’ve known you for a very long time (forever?) and I know that little Maxon has two wonderful, caring and strong parents!
